Kylara grew up in Southern Maryland and then moved to the Baltimore area to go to UMBC in 2003. She majored in History and Cultural Anthropology, then stayed on for an extra year to get a MAT. She got placed in Baltimore City for her internship. After she graduated, she found an amazing job at The Laurence G. Paquin School for Pregnant and Parenting Teens, where, because of the small size of the school, she did all of the high school social studies programs. Due to city budget cuts, the program for pregnant and parenting girls was nearly eliminated and she was transferred to an Elementary/Middle School where she got the ever-so-delightful opportunity to work with seventh and eighth grade social studies students. Then she had a nervous breakdown and decided to leave the city forever and never come back. | Tomko grew up in rural Indiana where his major activity was taking care of his adorable kittens. When he moved to Maryland in 2004, he brought Col. Floofington, the cutest of them, along. Floofy lived briefly with a friend, Erin, before coming back to live with Kylara and Tomko when they moved out of the dorms in 2005. For the next five years, Tomko, Kylara, and Floofy moved around to a variety of locations in and around Baltimore City. Tomko became an excellent cook and official cat-wrangler as the number of cats began to approach ridiculous. Luckily, by the time they decided to move to Canada, only one cat (Floofy) officially belonged to them, and Floofy went back to live with Erin for the foreseeable future. |
